To many people, the fact that the 2017 International Window Film Conference and Tint Off is just a few weeks away might not seem like a cause for much excitement if they even know about this annual convention at all. This is true simply because most people in America fail to realize just how prominent a role window tinting plays in their everyday lives. The fact is that between your car, your office, the retail and dining spots you might visit on any given day, and even in many modern homes, window film is so common that you probably benefit from it multiple times each day without even noticing.

For professional window film installers and for the designers behind all the finest window tint products, however, the annual International Window Film Conference and Tint Off is indeed a cause for excitement. The convention offers industry professionals an opportunity to learn about the latest and greatest window film for cars, homes, businesses, and more, and it also affords many in the field a chance to show off their expertise and prowess in competitive window tinting challenges.

This year, the WFCT heads to West Palm Beach. The convention will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and West Palm Beach Marriott on October 4th through the 6th of 2017. The event is organized and largely sponsored by the internationally acclaimed Window Film Magazine, the gold standard publication of the industry. Other WFCT sponsors included celebrated brands such as Llumar Window Film, Avery Dennison, Madico Window Films, and Huper Optik. These and other brands will have many of their newest products on display along with trusted classics.

The convention center floor will be open as of 1 PM on October 4th and 5th (closing at 6 PM those days) and from 9:30 AM to 2 PM on Friday the 6th. Many events are scheduled to take place outside those hours as well; see below for details.

On Display at the 2017 International Window Film Conference

Attendees of this October’s 2017 International Window Film Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida will see the finest products available in a wide range of applied films. These include window tints for cars, commercial properties, and homes, vinyl vehicle wraps (color change wraps, graphic wraps, color shift, and more), paint protection films, and other products from these and other categories.

There will also be several live presentations conducted by leading experts in a variety of fields, including an automotive Wrap Techniques session with Jeremiah Beinko at 4 PM on Thursday, October 5th, and several presentations including a keynote address given by Janine Driver, former federal law enforcement officer and the CEO of the Body Language Institute. That takes place on Friday, October 6, at 9:30 AM.

These are but two of the many event planned for a packed, compelling few days. For a full schedule, you can visit the official website of the 2017 International Window Film Conference.

WFCT Tint Off Categories

The actual tint off competition consists of challenges in three categories. The first is the The International Window Film Tint-Off Automotive Division, in which car window film installers will work as quickly and competently as they can and will be judged by leading auto window tint experts based on the overall quality of each competitor’s tinting jobs as well as on their procedures, their safety, and on the cleanliness of the work.

Not only is winning this competition prestigious and a likely boon to business, but the first-place winner(s) will receive a grand prize of $10,000, a gold medal, and a trophy. And of course they will earn the monicker “World’s Best Automotive Window Film Tinter.” (Second place tinters will receive $1,000 and a silver medal, while the third-place winners will get $500 and a bronze medal.)

Second, there is the International Window Film Tint-Off Architectural Division competition, in which window film installation specialists will race to apply the best window tints to mock ups of the windows of homes and commercial properties. Again their work is judged on final quality as well as on the safety and cleanliness of the installation process.

Not only will the company of the winning team get extensive media coverage and a solid PR boost from the event, but those first-place winners will get the grand prize of $5,000 cash, a gold medal and trophy, and the priceless bragging rights that come with the title “World’s Best Architectural Window Film Tinters.” (Second place tinters get $1,000 and a silver medal; the third-place winners get $500 and a bronze.)

Paint Protection

The International Window Film Tint-Off Paint Protection Film Division challenge is now in its fourth year, and the competition is likely to be ever steeper. Installers are judged based on their product knowledge and the quality, speed, cleanliness, and safety of their installation as well as with their customer interaction and service competence. Category winners will earn prestige, $5,000 cash, a gold medal, and trophy. Second and third place finishers get $1,000 and silver and $500 and bronze, respectively.

The Other Events at the WFCT

The International Window Film Conference and Tint Off is more than just a work- and product-oriented event, though; there are also myriad opportunities for recreation, including the third annual industry golf tournament, which takes place a day before the official start of the event on Tuesday, October 3rd at the Madison Green Country Club. This year will also see the third annual WFCT Pub Crawl, which will bring some levity to the end of the first full day of the convention, starting at 6:30 PM on October 4th.

Finally, there is a Closing Awards Party to celebrate the conclusion of another successful WFCT at 7 PM on October 6th. At this festive event, a host of coveted awards will be handed out, including the honors for World’s Best Architectural Window Film Tinter, for the World’s Best Automotive Window Film Tinter, and for the World’s Best Paint Protection Film Installer.
